Glenn Frey (1948-2016)

Glenn Frey, gitarist en stichtend lid van de Amerikaanse rockband Eagles, is tien jaar geleden gestorven in New York. Hij werd 67 jaar. Volgens de bandleden overleed hij aan de complicaties van reumatoïde artritis, een acute dikkedarmontsteking en een longontsteking. Hij was enkele weken geleden ziek geworden. De Eagles annuleerden in november 2015 nog een optreden in Washington als gevolg van de gezondheidsproblemen van Frey. De bedoeling was om eind 2016 opnieuw op te treden, maar dat zal dus zonder hun gitarist zijn. (Foto Steve Alexander – originally posted to Flickr)

Fifty-five years ago: Johnny Cash at San Quentin

“At San Quentin” is the 31st overall album by Johnny Cash, recorded live at San Quentin State Prison on February 24, 1969 and released on June 4 of that same year. The concert was filmed by Granada Television and was the second in Cash’s conceptual series of live prison albums that also included “At Folsom Prison” (1968), “På Österåker” (1973) and “A Concert Behind Prison Walls” (1976).
