Tomorrow it will be 55 years ago that the sessions for what was to become “Sgt.Pepper’s lonely heartsclub band“, the Beatles’ eighth studio album, began in Abbey Road Studio Two.
It started with two compositions inspired from their youth, John Lennon’s “Strawberry Fields Forever” and Paul McCartney’s “Penny Lane”, but after pressure from EMI, the songs were released (on February 17, 1967) as a double A-side single and were not included on the album. Dat wordt vaak als iets uitzonderlijk gepresenteerd, maar voor The Beatles was dat helemaal niet zo: “Day tripper”/”We can work it out” kwam uit op dezelfde dag als de elpee “Rubber Soul”, maar staat er ook niet op!
dagelijks iets degelijks 
Ze zien er vreselijk uit. Dit kan echt niet meer. Maar de muziek is voor altijd.
