65 jaar geleden bereikte “Rock’n’roll is here to stay” van Danny and the Juniors de negentiende plaats in de Billboard top 100. Het was een ietwat ontgoochelende plaats na de nummer één van z’n voorganger “At the hop”. The song was originally written in response to attacks on rock’n’roll music by some conservative radio stations like KWK in St. Louis, that included the smashing of “undesirable” rock’n’roll records. It has subsequently been recorded by many other artists, including Sha Na Na in 1969, who later performed it in the 1978 film Grease as “Johnny Casino and the Gamblers”.
