In “Il Viaggio a Reims” van het ECOV werd ik dertig jaar geleden vooral bekoord door de Baron van Trombonok van de Puertoricaan Carlos Conde (foto Twitter).
Blijkbaar was dit niet toevallig, want Carlos Conde became known especially for his portrayals of the “buffo” Italian roles, such as Leporello in DON GIOVANNI, Don Alfonso in COSÌ FAN TUTTE, DON PASQUALE, Don Magnifico in LA CENERENTOLA, Dulcamara in L’ELISIR D’AMORE, Figaro in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Melitone in LA FORZA DEL DESTINO, and Bartolo in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, a role he has sung over 200 times in 28 different productions.
